Equinor's (EQNR) board should explain the "inconsistency" between its plan to boost oil and gas production and Norway's expectation that the company should move to cut greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement, the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility, or ACCR, said Tuesday.
ACCR said it co-filed a resolution with fellow minority shareholders Sampension and Folksam where they expressed concern that the strategic direction of Equinor, which is majority owned by Norway, is "materially inconsistent" with the Paris accord.
"Other shareholders have reasonable expectations that the company would move towards alignment with the expectations of the majority shareholder," ACCR Executive Director Brynn O'Brien said in a statement. "Instead, Equinor has gone in the opposite direction."
Equinor didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
