China's Q1 Air Passenger Trips Up 5%

China's air passenger trips rose 4.9% year over year to 190 million in the first quarter, according to data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The sector recorded increases of 4.8% to 1.4 million flights and 2.6% to 3.6 million flight hours, while cargo and mail volume rose 11.7% to 2.2 million tonnes.

Total transportation turnover rose 11% to 38.6 billion tonne-kilometers.

The civil aviation sector improved its on-time performance rate by 4.9 percentage points to 94.5% in Q1, with no accidents reported during the period.
