美国检方周四正式向法院表示，他们计划对路易吉-曼吉奥内（Luigi Mangione ）寻求死刑，他被控去年在纽约谋杀了联合健康集团（UnitedHealth Group UNH.N）的一名高管。

　　现年26岁的曼乔内将于周五在曼哈顿联邦法院出庭受审。他对另一起纽约州起诉他谋杀联合健康集团保险部门首席执行官布莱恩-汤普森（Brian Thompson）的案件不认罪 。

　　虽然政府官员谴责了这起谋杀案，但一些美国人却为曼乔内欢呼，称他引起了人们对美国高昂的医疗费用以及医疗保险公司拒绝支付某些治疗费用的权力的关注。

　　检察官在他们的决定中写道，曼吉奥尼 “构成了未来的危险，因为他表达了针对整个行业的意图，并通过参与致命的暴力行为来动员政治和社会反对该行业”。

　　美国司法部长帕姆-邦迪（Pam Bondi）本月早些时候宣布，司法部将对曼乔内寻求死刑 。曼哈顿联邦检察官办公室周四向法院提交的文件正式确定了检察官判处死刑的意图。

　　曼乔内的律师周四没有立即回应置评请求。他们表示，邦迪4月1日的声明是 “毫无保留的政治”，违反了政府的死刑判决规程。

　　如果曼乔内在联邦案件中被判有罪，陪审团将在另一个审判阶段决定是否建议判处死刑。任何这样的建议都必须获得一致同意，而且法官必须执行死刑。
