Chugai Pharmaceutical's Net Income Jumps 31% in Three Months Ended March 31

Chugai Pharmaceutical (TYO:4519) reported a 31% increase in net income to 97.2 billion yen for the three months ended March 31, from 74.4 billion yen a year ago.

The pharmaceutical group's earnings per share rose to 59.08 yen from 45.21 yen a year ago, according to a Thursday bourse filing.

Revenue jumped 22% to 288.5 billion yen from 236.9 billion yen a year earlier.

For the year ending Dec. 31, the company expects core net income to increase 3.2% to 410.0 billion yen or 250.00 yen per share, while revenue is projected to rise 1.7% to 1.19 trillion yen.

The company plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 125.00 yen per share each, including a special dividend for its 100th anniversary, totaling 250.00 yen per share for the fiscal year.
