Carlsberg Meaningfully Misses Expectations -- Market Talk

0655 GMT - Carlsberg delivered a disappointing first-quarter performance after missing expectations across the board, RBC Capital Markets analysts James Edwardes Jones and Wassachon Udomsilpa say in a note. "It's not a disaster, and the first quarter is not a big quarter, but it's a worthwhile reminder that the world is challenging and hard to predict," they say. On the positive side, the Danish brewer extended the industry trend of modest improvement in China with low single-digit volume growth, the analysts say. However, this was offset by declines in Laos and Vietnam, the analysts add. (michael.susin@wsj.com)
