Prudential's (HKG:2378, SGX:K6S) new business profit rose 12% year over year to $608 million in the first quarter, driven by growth in China and Southeast Asian markets, according to a Wednesday filing with the Hong Kong Exchange.
The British insurer and asset manager said it delivered double-digit growth in new business profit across Hong Kong, mainland China, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
Annual premium equivalent sales for the three months ended March 31 amounted to $1.68 billion on a constant currency basis, up 4% from the year-ago period.
