Barclays (BCS) reported Wednesday Q1 basic earnings of 0.13 British pounds ($0.17) per ordinary share, up from 0.103 pounds per share a year earlier.
Analysts expected roughly 0.117 pounds.
Total income for the quarter ended March 31, calculated as a sum of net interest income and total other income, was 7.71 billion pounds, up from 6.95 billion pounds a year earlier.
Four analysts polled by FactSet expected 7.38 billion pounds.
The bank is targeting 2026 group total income of 30 billion pounds.
Shares were down more than 1% in premarket activity.
