By Rebecca Delaney

April 30 - (The Insurer) - Specialist construction MGA Phoenix Specialty has appointed Paul Kissane to lead its new global contractors' plant and equipment product, the company said on Wednesday.

The new product includes annual renewable direct insurance or facultative reinsurance across lead and follow lines for an international portfolio of "nearly all" asset types both above and underground.

Kissane, who has been named head of global contractors' plant and equipment, joins Phoenix Specialty from Castel Underwriting Agencies, where he was responsible for establishing and growing an international book along with writing U.S. construction all-risks project business.

Prior to that, he spent six years at Pioneer Underwriters, latterly as head of mobile plant and equipment.

Earlier this year, Phoenix Specialty named Andrew Charlton as managing director, succeeding Tim James, who transitioned to the role of CEO of Phoenix Global.

Phoenix Specialty was launched in April last year with backing from Axa UK.
