Market Chatter: Grindr Uses Amazon's Bedrock for New AI-Powered Product Features

Grindr (GRND) is using Amazon (AMZN) Web Services' Bedrock platform and Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 3.7 model to power features for its AI-driven Wingman product, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing CEO George Arison.

The dating app has shifted away from earlier plans to use chatbots from startup Ex-human and is now rolling out a feature called "A-List," which uses AI to surface past connections and summarize chats. The feature will be available to 25% of users by the end of April, according to the news outlet.

Arison told Bloomberg that Grindr chose Bedrock in part for data privacy reasons, since the company already stores its data with AWS. He added that Bedrock's support for multiple AI models also made it easier for the team to evaluate different options and ultimately select Anthropic's Claude, which outperformed Ex-human's bot.

Grindr and Amazon did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
