Mastercard (MA) said Tuesday it launched an agentic payments program, Mastercard Agent Pay, which integrates agentic AI into the new payment system.
The payment card services firm said it is collaborating with Microsoft (MSFT) on new use cases to scale agentic commerce. Mastercard is also looking to partner with IBM (IBM), with its watsonx Orchestrate product, to boost business-to-business use cases.
Consumers, merchants and issuers will have more secure and personal payments experience with the new agentic payments program, the company said.
Mastercard Agent Pay will also provide Mastercard Agentic Tokens feature for contactless payments, secure card-on-file, and Mastercard Payment Passkeys, as well as programmable payments including recurring expenses and subscriptions.
Mastercard said it will collaborate with acquirers and checkout players including Braintree and Checkout.com to enhance the tokenization capabilities.
