Alphabet's (GOOG) Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said Wednesday in federal court that a US Department of Justice proposal that would force the tech giant to share search data with competitors would be a "de facto" divestiture of the company's search engine, Bloomberg reported.

Pichai's testimony came as part of a three-week trial seeking to determine how Google should restore online search competition after Judge Amit Mehta ruled last year that it had illegally maintained a monopoly on the market, according to the report.
