Luckin Notes Growing Competition, Coffee Costs -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
29 Apr

1149 ET - Chinese chain Luckin Coffee continued its high-octane growth in 1Q, adding 1,750 new stores and reporting a 8% same-store sales increase. But the Starbucks competitor sees challenges on the horizon, with its costs expected to grow later this year as coffee prices across the globe rise. Competition in China is also growing, the company says on an investor call, as Chinese tea chain Chagee recently filed to go public and beverage giant Mixue offered its shares earlier this year. Starbucks reports results after the bell. (heather.haddon@wsj.com; @heatherhaddon)
