1253 ET - Visits to coffeehouses are on the rise, data from Placer.ai shows. The location analytics company attributes the boost to affordable luxuries, such as coffee, tending to perform well in times of rising prices and heightened budget-consciousness. Starbucks continues to be the dominant player in the coffee category, capturing the majority of visits and demonstrating strong customer loyalty, the report says. The firm notes, though, that the chain is losing some of its market share to smaller, quickly growing companies including Dutch Bros and 7 Brew Coffee. Overall visits to Starbucks, scheduled to report earnings after the bell, slip 0.9% during 1Q, data show. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
