National Vision Holdings named company President Alex Wilkes as chief executive to succeed veteran Reade Fahs, who will stay on as executive chairman.

The Duluth, Ga., chain of eyeglasses stores said Wilkes will take the reins on Aug. 1, and that Fahs will continue to work closely with him during the leadership transition. According to his LinkedIn profile, Fahs has served as the chief executive of the eyewear firm since 2003, having ascended to the position shortly after he joined the company.

National Vision, which operates optometry stores under brands such as America's Best, said Wilkes has served as president since 2024. Prior to joining National Vision, Wilkes was president, Americas, at rival CooperVision. He also previously worked as an executive for Ray-Ban owner EssilorLuxottica.
