Hokkaido Electric Power (TYO:9509) has revised the construction and operation timeline for Unit 3 of its Ishikariwan Shinko thermal power station after winning a bid in Japan's second Long-Term Decarbonized Power Resource Auction, according to a Monday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Construction of Unit 3 will now start in May 2030 instead of March 2034, with operations beginning in fiscal 2033. Plans for Unit 2 remain unchanged, while Unit 1 has commenced operations in February 2019.

Hokkaido Electric said the adjustment reflects the auction scheme, which aims to support long-term investment in decarbonized power sources.
