US has commissioned L3Harris to ready an interim presidential plane by year end, WSJ reports

May 1 (Reuters) - The U.S. government has commissioned L3Harris LHX.N to overhaul a Boeing 747 formerly used by the Qatari government to use as an interim Air Force One, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

President Donald Trump wants to have the plane available for use as early as the fall, WSJ report added.

Boeing said in January it was working with the Trump administration to speed up delivery of two replacement presidential aircraft, which were not expected to be delivered until later this decade.
