Apple (AAPL) will see a "moderate negative impact" on its service revenue and operating income from the recent legal decision to stop Apple from blocking alternative payment options or imposing fees on transactions outside the App Store, Oppenheimer said in a Thursday note.
Oppenheimer analysts said that the legal ruling could result in a 3% impact on the company's operating income, assuming an 80% operating margin on App Store revenues and a 20% loss of App Store payment to external service providers.
In countries where Apple is forced to allow third-party payment services for iOS developers, it still collects 26% commission from the payments, the analysts noted. The latest ruling forbids the company from collecting any such commission.
