Consumer companies fell after weak jobs data.

A mere 62,000 jobs were created this month, down from 147,000 in March, and shy of economists' 120,000 estimate, according to the ADP National Employment report.

Shares of shipping line Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings plunged after it warned of softening in booking trends. Rival Carnival fell in sympathy.

Newell Brands expressed confidence in its ability to navigate a higher-tariff environment, but the maker of Sharpie pens and other staples warned of a larger decline in core sales for the year.

Yum Brands shares rose after the owner of Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut franchises posted earnings ahead of Wall Street expectations.
