Howden takes Marsh Asia's Gupta to lead M&A in IMEA region

By Rebecca Delaney

May 1 - (The Insurer) - Howden has appointed Mandira Gupta as managing director and head of M&A for the India, Middle East and Africa region, the broker said on Thursday.

Based in Mumbai, Gupta will be responsible for leading Howden's strategic focus on private equity and transactional risk insurance solutions in the region.

Gupta joins Howden following 12 years at Marsh, where she most recently served as managing director and transactional risk leader for India, the Middle East and Africa at Marsh India Insurance Broking. She was also private equity and M&A leader for India at Marsh Asia.

Howden said the appointment coincides with significant growth in M&A activity in Indian markets, with recorded deals totalling $5.3 billion in Q1 2025. This marks a 25% increase in deal volume year on year, as well as a 204% increase in India's M&A and private equity value.

In December 2024, Howden announced the appointment of Marsh McLennan’s Rohan Bhappu as deputy CEO of Howden Asia, with the new hire set to take the helm of the unit as CEO from October this year.
