Six Flags Entertainment said 2025 will be the final season for Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor, located in Bowie, Maryland.
The amusement park owner said the site will be marketed for redevelopment as part of its portfolio optimization program. CBRE has been engaged to market the property sale, the company added.
The facility employs about 70 full-time associates, and eligible associates will receive severance and other benefits. The park's final operating day will be November 2, and the closure isn't expected to have a material impact on the financial results in 2025, the company said.
Six Flags President and Chief Executive Officer, Richard A. Zimmerman, said the properties aren't a strategic fit with the company's long-term growth plan.
