Hershey's Non-Chocolate Candies Would Be Hit Hardest By Ingredient Bans -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
01 May

1044 ET - Hershey believes its chocolates will be relatively sheltered from increasing ingredient regulations, but other candies might need more tweaks to how they're made. Executives say its sweets category--which excludes chocolates and includes candy like Twizzlers and Jolly Ranchers--will likely be the most affected by Health and Human Services Secretary RFK, Jr.'s initiatives to ban certain dyes and ingredients. Chocolates with coatings could also experience some impact, they say. But Hershey has stayed ahead of previous crackdowns, it says, and believes it can continue to keep up.
