PT Aneka Tambang (Persero) said its profit for the first quarter soared 1,003% to 2.32 trillion Indonesian rupiah from 210.59 billion rupiah in the same quarter a year ago, according to an Australian bourse filing on Thursday.
Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization also surged 518% to 3.26 trillion rupiah during the period, from 527.61 billion rupiah in the year-ago period.
Its net sales clocked in at 26.15 trillion rupiah in the quarter, up 203% from 8.62 trillion rupiah in the prior-year period. Gold products were the largest contributors to the firm's sales, with a 182% sales growth in the gold segment over the period to 21.61 trillion rupiah.
Gold production from the firm's mines reached 230 kilograms in the March quarter, rising 39% year-over-year from 166 kilograms in the year-ago quarter.
Its nickel ore production grew 221% over the period to 4.63 million wet metric tonnes (wmt) from 1.44 million wmt. Nickel ore sales grew 281% to 3.83 million wmt in the quarter from 1 million wmt a year earlier.
Its bauxite production during the period grew to 653,781 wmt, rising 328% from 152,717 wmt in the year-ago quarter.
