May 5 (Reuters) - Average daily volume $(ADV)$ in U.S. natural gas futures and options rose on the New York Mercantile Exchange in April from a year earlier, data from its owner CME Group CME.O showed.
For the month, futures ADV was 591,723 contracts, up 30.9% from a year ago. Futures ADV hit a monthly record high of 677,112 contracts in November 2018.
So far in 2025, futures ADV was 611,610, up 19.8% from a year earlier. Futures ADV hit an annual record high of 516,553 contracts in 2024.
Financially settled European-style options ADV was 291,973 in April, up 71.0% from a year earlier. Options ADV hit a monthly record high of 341,233 in January 2025.
So far in 2025, financially settled European-style options ADV was up to 312,890, up 42.2% from the prior year. Options ADV hit an annual high of 213,945 in 2024.
