Apple Appeals Court Order on App Store Payments

Apple (AAPL) on Monday appealed a ruling last week that prevents the company from charging developers fees even if their users make purchases outside the App Store, according to court documents seen by MT Newswires.

US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers on Thursday ruled that the company violated a 2021 court order requiring it to allow third-party payment options in its App Store and to stop charging commissions on purchases outside its software marketplace.

Although Apple allowed external payment links, it still charged a 27% fee, which the judge said was an attempt to evade the original order.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
