智通财经APP获悉，据报道，亚马逊(AMZN.US)旗下自动驾驶初创公司Zoox计划明年扩大生产规模，加速推进其自动驾驶出租车车队在美国的商业化运营。
Zoox联合创始人Jesse Levinson表示，该公司将在加州湾区新建一处生产场地，以突破目前仅有弗里蒙特小型工厂的产能局限。
Levinson称，目前Zoox已在美国六个城市部署约24辆定制测试车辆，新工厂将助力车队规模扩张。
报道指出，该公司计划今年率先在拉斯维加斯推出公众叫车服务，随后拓展至旧金山，并补充道，新工厂的启用将使Zoox具备“量产数百乃至数千辆定制自动驾驶出租车”能力。
在非工作时间段，Zoox与亚马逊均未立即回应置评请求。
上月，特朗普政府宣布将通过豁免部分安全标准及简化安全事故报告流程等措施，加速自动驾驶汽车的推广应用。
当前，特斯拉(TSLA.US)和谷歌(GOOGL.US)旗下Waymo等汽车制造商正积极布局自动驾驶出租车市场。美国汽车监管机构此前已对通用汽车(GM.US)的Cruise、Waymo和Zoox运营的自动驾驶车辆展开过调查。
