SK Innovation (KRX:096770) subsidiary SK On announced a new method to extend the cycle life of lithium metal anodes in collaboration with Hanyang University.
The study revealed how a protective layer formed using lithium nitrate and lithium oxide can enhance interfacial stability and triple battery life to over 300 cycles. The study addresses long-standing issues of dendrite formation and low efficiency in sulfide-based all-solid-state lithium metal batteries, SK Innovation said in a Tuesday release.
SK On has filed patents for the technology, reinforcing its leadership in next-generation battery development.
