0804 GMT - Scor reported an excellent start to the year, with meaningful consensus beats, Jefferies says in a research note after the French reinsurer posted its first-quarter results. "The result is all the more impressive when set against the Californian wildfires and management's proactive buffer building," analyst Philip Kett writes. The lack of positive or negative experience variances--the difference between the actual outcome of insurance claims and the insurer's predictions--in its life and health reinsurance division is reassuring after last year's hiccups and implies that Scor's actuarial estimates are now set more accurately, he adds. Shares rise 5% to 27.9 euros. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
