Ramsay Health Care (ASX:RHC) may consider buying Healthscope hospitals if they fit its acquisition strategy, and it will always look at opportunities if the right assets come up, the Australian Financial Review reported Wednesday, citing Chief Executive Natalie Davis.
Healthscope is testing market interest and has received approaches from several parties, according to AFR. While Ramsay has not confirmed involvement, it is seen as a likely contender if any sale aligns with its network of 76 private hospitals and clinics across Australia.
Speaking at the Macquarie Australia Conference, Davis said Ramsay would assess opportunities "sensibly," without elaborating on specific targets, adding that the company is currently focused on boosting margins and productivity in its existing Australian hospitals, AFR reported.
