Sun Silver (ASX:SS1) said phase one metallurgical test work program is set to begin for the Maverick Springs silver-gold project in Nevada to maximize metal recoveries and optimize processing methods, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.
It will conduct extended cyanide bottle roll tests as well as intermittent bottle roll and column leach testing, and experiment with higher cyanide dosages and optimized leaching parameters. It will also conduct flotation optimization studies to improve both silver and gold concentrate grades, and mineralogical and diagnostic leach studies to identify and mitigate refractory silver losses.
This builds on an extensive review of historical metallurgical test work conducted by Independent Metallurgical Operations, which confirmed the project's silver and gold recovery potential.
Its shares rose 4% on market close on Tuesday.
