Nikkei Down 0.1%, Dragged by Shippers, Trading Houses -- Market Talk

0027 GMT - Japanese stocks are lower as uncertainty over U.S. tariffs and their economic implications continues. Shippers and trading houses are leading the declines. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines is down 2.8% and Mitsui & Co. is 1.9% lower. USD/JPY is at 143.71, compared with 142.95 as of Wednesday's Tokyo stock market close. Earnings are in focus, with Toyota Motor scheduled to announce its results later in the day. The Nikkei Stock Average is down 0.1% at 36736.55. (kosaku.narioka@wsj.com; @kosakunarioka)
