综合媒体报道，5月8日，微软公司创始人比尔·盖茨宣布将把大部分个人财富捐赠给盖茨基金会，并设定基金会到2045年停止运营前，支出超过2000亿美元的慈善资金。

这名69岁亿万富翁通过网站公布，正在加快捐赠计划的步伐，确保自己在离世时“不再是一个富人”，“我死后，人们会谈论很多关于我的事，但我决心不让他们说‘他死时很富有’。”

他表示，预计从现在到2045年，盖茨基金会的慈善支出将超过2000亿美元，这包括基金会现有的捐赠基金规模以及他未来的捐款。

此外，盖茨在声明中还说，“目前尚不清楚世界上最富裕的国家，是否会继续支持最贫困的人民”，并指出包括英国和法国在内的主要捐助国也削减了援助。

另据盖茨基金会发布的声明，未来20年基金会的整体战略不变，将通过与各方伙伴紧密合作，尽最大努力推动三个核心目标，即帮助终结孕产妇和婴儿死于可预防的疾病；确保下一代不再遭受致命传染病威胁；帮助数亿人摆脱贫困，走上富裕道路。
