Legislators in Hong Kong passed a motion seeking a united stance against US tariffs, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday.
Authorities and industries in Hong Kong should take up a united stance with China and "resist the bullying of the United States" by building up Hong Kong's international network, the SCMP said, citing lawmaker Ma Fung-kwok.
Some legislators also called on CK Hutchison (HKG:0001) to halt its deal with BlackRock to sell its Panama Canal ports, which have drawn the ire of mainland China and the US, the report said.
"It's understandable that businesses pursue profit, but I sincerely hope that the business community will not disregard national interests, especially when it comes to matters of principle," the SCMP quoted Ma as saying.
