智利铜生产商智利国家铜业公司（Codelco）和全球矿业公司力拓集团（Rio Tinto）周一表示，双方将共同致力于在智利北部阿塔卡马地区的新铜项目（Nuevo Cobre）周边打造一个铜 “矿业区”。

　　智利国家铜业公司在一份声明中称，新协议设立了一个联合委员会，并为初步研究提供了共享资金，初始期限为 12 个月，且有可能延长。

　　此前，这两家公司于 2023 年成立了新铜项目（Nuevo Cobre），以便在该地区进行勘探。在这个合资项目中，智利国家铜业公司拥有约 43% 的股份，力拓集团拥有约 58% 的股份。

　　全球最大的铜生产商智利国家铜业公司指出，新铜项目毗邻其自身的圣安东尼奥矿区。

　　智利国家铜业公司表示：“广阔的阿塔卡马地区的地质潜力以及这两个项目的临近性为创建一个矿业区提供了契机。”

　　该公司还补充称，两家公司将致力于通过包括基础设施建设等方式，实现该地区价值的 “最大化”。

　　力拓集团首席执行官雅各布・施托尔斯霍姆在智利国家铜业公司的声明中表示：“这将充分利用我们互补的经验和能力，以一种造福阿塔卡马地区的方式推动勘探和开发工作。”
