Church & Dwight has struck a deal to buy the Touchland hand-sanitizer brand for up to $880 million.
Church & Dwight on Monday said the deal includes $700 million in cash and restricted stock at closing, along with a contingent payment of up to $180 million tied to Touchland's sales this year.
The deal is slated to close in the second quarter.
Church & Dwight, the Ewing, N.J., maker of Arm & Hammer and OxiClean products, said Touchland generated sales of about $130 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of roughly $55 million for the 12 months ended March 31, adding that the brand is expected to post double-digit sales growth this year and next.
Touchland, founded by Andrea Lisbona in Spain in 2014, launched sales in the U.S. in 2018. The company's palm-sized rectangular plastic bottles come in candy colors and look more like tech accessories than hand sanitizers, and its products have become status symbols for tweens and teens.
