Market Chatter: Car Makers Recall Nearly 70,000 Units in China Due to Safety Issues

Car manufacturers recalled 69,793 vehicles in China due to possible safety risks, the South China Morning Post reported Saturday, citing the State Administration for Market Regulation.

FAW Toyota, which produces Toyota (TYO:7203) vehicles, will recall 10,892 units, including 93 imported ones, due to loose suspension bolts, the report said.

Mercedes-Benz will also recall 31,874 vehicles, including four imported units, due to fire hazards and installation issues with the air-conditioning condensate drain line, the report said.

BMW also plans to recall 26,766 locally-made vehicles and 80 imported ones due to a fire hazard seen in the power connector, the SCMP said.
