European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise in Friday Trading; Down 1% for Week

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.57% to 1,408.94 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which remained 1% lower for the week.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk (NVO) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which rose 3.5% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and accommodations booking company Trivago (TRVG), which were up 2% and 1.6%

The decliners from continental Europe were led by furniture manufacturer Natuzzi (NTZ) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which fell 2.4% and 2.3% respectively. They were followed by 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND), which were down 1.6% and 1.1% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which increased 5.2% and 4.9% respectively. They were followed by energy major BP (BP) and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN), which advanced 3.6% and 3.2% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Verona Pharma (VRNA), which dropped 54% and 4.1% respectively. They were followed by tobacco company British American Tobacco (BTI) and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which lost 2.8% and 2.4% respectively.
