Meta Platforms (META) appointed Robert Fergus to head its artificial intelligence research lab, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing an announcement the company made internally.
Fergus succeeds Joelle Pineau, who announced departure plans last month, the report said.
The appointee had co-founded Facebook AI Research lab in 2014, and had been working at Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) DeepMind before returning to Meta recently.
Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
META shares were up 1.6% in recent trading.
