Industrials Flat Ahead of Trade Talks -- Industrials Roundup

Shares of industrial and transportation companies were flat as traders awaited developments from talks in Switzerland.

British Airways owner International Consolidated Airlines said it ordered 53 planes from Boeing and Airbus, marking a significant investment in its fleet despite uncertainty in the sector stemming from trade tensions.

Chinese shipment of goods to the U.S. dropped 21% in April from a year earlier, while exports to the bloc of Southeast Asian nations -- known as Asean -- surged 21%, according to official trade figures released by China's General Administration of Customs.

The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York is emphasizing the need to keep long-term inflation in check.

Panasonic Holdings plans to cut about 10,000 jobs globally as it streamlines operations at its headquarters and business units including consumer electronics.
