Allianz is scheduled to report results for the first quarter of 2025 on Thursday. Here is what to know:
NET PROFIT: Europe's largest insurer is expected to report net income attributable to shareholders of 2.70 billion euros ($3.02 billion) for the three months ended March 31, according to a company-compiled consensus of up to 15 analysts' estimates. This compares with a net profit of 2.475 billion euros in the same period of 2024.
OPERATING PROFIT: Consensus estimates that the German company will post 4.23 billion euros in group operating profit for the quarter, an increase on the previous year's 3.99 billion euros.
Allianz shares trade at 350.5 euros and are up 18% since the start of the year, roughly in line with a 17% gain in the Stoxx Europe 600 Insurance index in the same period.
WHAT TO WATCH:
-- Allianz's solvency II ratio--a measure of capital strength--is penciled in at 211% for the period, against 203% in the comparable quarter.
-- The Munich-based group's property and casualty combined ratio--a key profitability metric--is expected to be 92.2% for the quarter compared with 91.9% a year prior.
-- At its life and health unit, new business margin is seen at 5.6% against 5.7% a year before
-- Analysts expect net flows at its asset-management segment--which houses Pimco and Allianz Global Investors--of 25 billion euros. This would take its third-party assets under management to 1.938 trillion euros at the end of the period. The flows outlook will be in focus given the current market volatility, Morgan Stanley's Hadley Cohen wrote.
-- No strategic update is expected as the group recently unveiled a fresh three-year plan. "Whilst early days, we see this as a chance for Allianz to begin to show progress in its 2025-27 ambitions," Deutsche Bank analysts said.
