Ford Motor (F) is eliminating around 350 software jobs in the US and Canada working with its connected-vehicle program, the automaker said Tuesday.
"We consistently review our organization to make sure we are operating efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment," the automaker said in a statement to MT Newswires, later explaining the moves "will include some separations."
During a telephone interview, a Ford spokesperson said the job cuts were not due to tariffs on vehicles and parts arriving in the US from other countries or because of recent design changes for some of the company's electric vehicles. The spokesperson would not specify which locations would be affected by the upcoming layoffs.
The job cuts were first reported earlier Tuesday by Automotive News, citing people familiar with the matter.
