Modest Upside Seen for AUD/USD as Headwinds Soften, HSBC Says -- Market Talk

Yesterday

0121 GMT - HSBC now sees modest AUD/USD upside as headwinds soften, two members of the bank's Global Research team say in a research report. Latest reduction in U.S. tariffs on China's imports "should alleviate the pressure on the regional growth outlook and improve overall risk sentiment," the members say. AUD/USD should benefit over time, given Australia's deep export dependence on its Asia-Pacific peers and its current-account funding requirements, the members say. HSBC raises its AUD/USD forecasts to 0.6400 from 0.6100 for 2Q, to 0.6500 from 0.6000 for 3Q, to 0.6600 from 0.6000 for 4Q, to 0.6700 from 0.6000 for 1Q 2026, and to 0.6800 from 0.6000 for 2Q 2026. AUD/USD is steady at 0.6371. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
