1052 ET - Dick's Sporting Good's planned acquisition of Foot Locker could ultimately be a win for Nike, Jefferies says. Nike has a strong relationship with both companies: it leads footwear sales at Dick's, accounting for 28% of its business, and represents over half of Foot Locker's sales, according to the analysts. A consolidation could build Nike's retail presence and brand consistency, they say. Given Dick's strong management and efficiency, the analysts believe it will improve the way Foot Locker is run, which in turn could help reinforce Nike's distribution strategy and solidify its position in athletic retail.
