Macquarie Technology Group's (ASX:MAQ) cloud unit is collaborating with the Council of Australasian University Directors of Information Technology (CAUDIT) to support the region's research and education sector through cloud-based infrastructure, according to a Thursday statement.

Through CAUDIT Cloud, Macquarie Cloud Services aims to offer a "pre-vetted and cost-effective" product, enabling institutions to "more easily procure advanced computing services without the usual high infrastructure investments," the statement read.

CAUDIT is the peak body for information and communication technology in the higher education and research sectors.

The initiative will be launched on May 25.
