The number of loan commitments in Australia fell 3.5% to 127,108 between the March 2025 and December 2024 quarters, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Wednesday.
New home loans approved fell 3.4% to 79,890. In value terms, new home loans fell 2.5% to AU$53.2 billion.
Meanwhile, lending to investors dropped 3.7% to 47,218. The total value of investment loans approved slid 0.3% to AU$32.4 billion.
Compared with the year-earlier period, the number of total loans approved rose 6% in the March quarter. New home loans rose 4.4% and investor loans jumped nearly 9%.
