Spirit Aviation is adding more premium seats and perks to its loyalty program.
The budget airline said Tuesday it is adding seven rows of new seating near the front of the aircraft with extra legroom. The seating is scheduled to be installed starting in June and roll out across most planes by July. Spirit plans to phase out the blocked middle seat, it said.
Passengers in the new seating will also get a carry-on bag, no change or cancel fees, priority boarding and other benefits.
The airline is also adding benefits to its loyalty program Free Spirit. Members can now redeem more premium offerings with their points, get complimentary upgrades, check two bags for free and earn points on a Spirit debit card.
Spirit's expansion of premium offerings comes as airlines have said higher spending customers have proved more resilient through a recent slowdown in demand.
