路透上海5月14日 - 中国机器人出租车运营商小马智行周三表示，旗下一台车辆在工作人员处理系统故障时起火，但车上没有乘客。
小马智行表示，周二上午，这辆无人驾驶车在行驶途中被检测到"状态异常"，车辆触发保护机制紧急停车，未发生碰撞事故，未造成任何人员伤亡。工作人员在接到指令后两分钟内赶到现场，在处理过程中车辆开始起火，工作人员配合相关部门已妥善处置。具体原因正在调查中。
这一事件可能会进一步加剧人们对中国自动驾驶车辆安全性的担忧。在小米汽车1810.HK在智能辅助驾驶状态下发生致命事故后，中国监管机构最近已收紧管理对自动驾驶功能的宣传和推广。
周三在中国社交媒体上发布的一段视频显示，在北京的一条道路上，救援人员正在扑灭一辆撞上道路绿化隔离带的汽车的火势。视频中称，该车属于小马智行。网上发布的其他星官照片和视频显示，该车有雷克萨斯的标志。雷克萨斯是日本丰田汽车7203.T旗下的豪华汽车品牌，也是小马智行的支持者。
路透无法独立核实社交媒体上的帖子，从网上发布的视频和照片也无法判断这是雷克萨斯的哪款车型。
