Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI said Friday it has launched Codex, a cloud-based software engineering agent, on ChatGPT Pro, Enterprise and Team.

OpenAI said the agent can work on different tasks simultaneously, including writing features, answering codebase questions and fixing bugs. Preloaded with the user's repository, each task runs in its own cloud sandbox environment, the company said.

Codex, which uses codex-1, was trained using reinforcement learning on real-world coding tasks in a variety of environments, OpenAI said.

OpenAI said it plans to "soon" launch the engineering agent for ChatGPT Plus and Edu users.
