1535 GMT - The new agreement between the U.K. and the European Union marks a leap forward in the relationship between the two parties after years of turbulence, Rain Newton-Smith, chief executive of the business group Confederation of British Industry, says in a note. The U.K. and the EU signed a deal to ease trade and bolster security cooperation. "Today's deal means firms on both sides of the border will be breathing a sigh of relief," CBI says. Given the current bleak global trading environment, marked by geopolitical tensions and sluggish growth, the agreement underscores the importance of deepening ties with trusted, like-minded partners, CBI says.
