原告 Scott Bernstein、Gina Greeder 和 James Lonergan 在 5 月 13 日向联邦法院提交的诉状中声称，Coinbase 为满足“了解您的客户”（KYC）要求而“大规模收集”面部识别信息，违反了 BIPA，因为用户并未收到通知。
该群体声称，Coinbase 未以书面形式通知用户有关其生物识别数据的收集、存储或共享，以及数据的使用目的和保留时间表。诉状称，Coinbase 要求用户通过上传政府颁发的照片身份证和自拍照片来验证身份，这些照片随后会被发送给第三方面部识别软件进行扫描和提取面部几何数据。
