截至撰稿，VIX恐慌指数上涨12.06%，报19.32。 VIX指数在4月川普对等关税生效前曾达到60的历史性高位，随后因关税贸易谈判陆续展开而大幅回落。
VIX恐慌指数衡量的是投资人对未来30个交易日标普500指数波动性的预期，数值越大，意味着市场风险越高。
此番VIX指数暴涨的导火索是国际评级机构穆迪下调了美国主权信用评级，使得美国失去了最后一个3A的最高评级，理由是美国债务负担加重且财政赤字可能进一步恶化。
在失去高等级的信用评级后，美债投资人将要求更高的殖利率以补偿更大的潜在风险，尤其是长期美债。 19日，30年期美债利率持续走升，现报5.03%，为2023年10月以来的最高。这在美联储已经降息三次的降息周期下显得异常。
若利率继续走高，美国借债的难度和借债成本将进一步增加，可能导致美国财政不可持续性的问题陷入恶性循环。摩根大通分析师表示，这提醒着我们，将财政问题拖延下去的代价将是巨大的。
